[Memories] The Highway To Heaven Confession
Seriously, what I find physically attractive, has been with me since I was a little kid. I had to explain this to people -- it doesn't just "pop up" one day and you say, "Oh yay, I think I'll try cock! All the cool kids are doing it!"

When I was about seven or eight years old, I was doing homework in front of the TV while my mother watched the old Michael Landon show Highway To Heaven. In one episode Michael Landon's hefty bearded cohort (I never CAN remember his name, nor the actor's name, but those who have seen the show KNOW who I'm talking about!) was dealing with some kid who wanted to attend a dance, but knew nothing on HOW to dance. So, said husky cohort said, "Fine, I'll show you how," and started to ballroom dance with him.

I was inexplicably interested in this, and thought about that scene the rest of the night. The next day, I found the VHS tape my mother had (she taped the show all the time) and rewatched the episode while no one was around. I really felt like I was doing something "wrong," yet I couldn't tell you why.

And now I dig the husky hairy bearded homos. Shock! I told a coworker this and he was just dumbfounded that my lust was so rooted at such a young age. I didn't even get into the unhealthy obsession as a child for Sebastian Cabot.

Thank you -- I just looked it up on IMDB.

I had no idea he passed!

That makes me feel slightly more dirty that he was one of my earliest crushes. :: laugh ::

Yes and YES! ;-)

It wasn't sexual for me back then, but I knew I liked him.

The huskies are still around, but body hair has become so... unfashionable. I hate it.

I was just looking back at some old 1970s issues of Playgirl, and OH MY GOD! The body and facial hair these guys had! When on Earth did the culture decide that manly men were no longer desirable, and de-maculinized males elevated?

different preferences for different men

It isn't necessarily a 'demasculinization' nor an 'emasculation' of a man if he wants to groom or shave or otherwise reduce and eliminate some or all of his hair. Some men are extremely 'masculine' and desirable despite all sorts of hair removal. It's a matter of personal preference, and although the popular styles and fads do change every season and every year, some of us are quite happy and comfortable with our 'masculinity' even though we may lack beards and shagginess. Obviously it becomes rather pointless and unintelligent if people are altering their own bodies simply for the sake of conformity to popular fashion; but some of us are quite comfortable with less hair, regardless of whether or not it is (or has ever been) 'in style'.

Out of curiosity, and forgive my forwardness on this, but were you sexually active at a young age?? Not necessarily with others, but active in general?

Not at all ... I wasn't masturbating until 13 or 14, and wasn't with anyone else until 18.

Cool. I was hyper-aware of my sexuality at a really young age. But, I was (and still am) quite a dirty bird, playing doctor with just about anyone from, like, Kindergarten+.

I was masturbating around 11, and lost my virginity to a girl at 12. Guy at 13. Both until around 23... and have been exclusively gay since then. (26 now.)

Hehe educated was a big part of it. I knew the names for parts early on. And I masturbated ... early on, just didn't masturbate until completion until 11. *shrug* All at our own pace. :)

OMG. I completely forgot about this show that I used to love. And you're right, Victor French was indeed the hotness. I vaguely recall experiencing prepubescent lust for the avuncular Mr. French. Would really enjoy sitting on his lap and cuddling to completion, if circumstances ever allowed.

I was of the Grizzly Adams era. I had such a crush on him, all muscley adn furry and blond and stuff. I also like the neighbor guy on Little House on the Prairie . . .and oh yeah, Mr French was cute too . . . Maybe I was a *little* gay?

Now I'm getting all confused because I don't know when people are referring to Mr Giles French (of Family Affair, played by the dearly departed Mr Cabot) and Mr Victor French late of Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven. Needless to say, I would've happily jumped either one of them.

I'm right there with you - I remember as early as 6 or 7 having feelings only about men - and it didn't change as I grew older. My obsession with body hair started early, and morphed across the years as I grew more aware of the body hair variety, but my essential attractions have been fixed for all of my life.

When I was about...11, I guess, we went to a social function of some kind at our synagogue. It was summertime, a hot day, and there were a lot of people to be fed, so D. Dezen was out back manning one of those barbecues made from a split 55-gallon drum. He looked very Tom Sellecklike, and his chest was an absolute carpet. I remember thinking "Wow, I hope I get to be that hairy someday."

Once in a great while, one's wishes get cosmically smiled upon.

Victor French - watch Gunsmoke / Little House on Prarie

Yeah, I know what you mean.

Now on Gunsmoke, you'll see what he was like in his 30's - but he didn't play such a terrific dude in some of those episodes. Mostly he played a mean, or an outlaw character.

Victor French started playing a nice character - when he did his stint with Michael Landons' ( Little House ) which he plays more or less, the friendly neighbor who lived next door.

--- Still, what actually did it for me is Sam Jones, who played the 1980 release of Flash Gordon. ( turned 11 years old, and to me - the idea of some comic book and a rock band called Queen based on the 1930's Sci-Fi Art Deco Style )

What I didn't like too much is when Sam Jones went on to play some awful characters for Chuck Norris - Walker, Texas Ranger. ( but then again Chuck Norris was this cool dude who could karate chop through anything.) Still, Norris had a very LIMITED RANGE of expression...

I like Richard Boone's "Have Gun, Will Travel" series - please check a couple of those episodes out, this is by far one of the best westerns.

T.G.

Oh I think these things can start real early in life. I remember I always had this feeling in my lower extremities whenever I saw chunky, hairy grubby construction workers in their workgear and their dirty boots...that was when I was 10 or so. That kinda progressed to big hairy leather bikers or burly booted cops when the internet rolled round during my teens...

And look where it got me to today!

With me, it was Sebastian Cabot. :)
As early as 8 or 9 I can remember getting "warm fuzzies" whenever I saw big men (even more so if they were bearded), even though I had no clue what sex was until many years later.
